About Cork

Clothes Swap

Cork Clothes Swap is a Non-Profit Organisation, run by volunteers with the goal to provide a sustainable alternative to shopping for new clothes.
Our Story
Cork Clothes Swap was set up in the Summer of 2021 with the vision to keep clothes in circulation. In the Spring of 2022, like-minded people joined forces and brought their individual creativity, skills and passion to the project to create what we have now. Cork Clothes Swap runs two clothes swaps every month and are often invited to bring their initiative to festivals, markets and other sustainable events.

Cork Clothes Swap has participated in Electric Picnic, Ballymaloe May Fair, Cork Midsummer Festival and  Cork Burlseque Festival. They have brought creative upcycling workshops & swap events to The Black Market Cork, The Test Site, St. Peter's Cork, Rebel Reads Bookshop and Scala Conference & Events Centre. They have collaborated with Cork Zero Waste, Cork Repair Café, Serve Solidarity, FashForward.
Our Mission

Our mission is to foster sustainable fashion practices and promote community engagement through monthly clothes swap events. We aim to create a movement where individuals can come together to exchange used clothes to reduce textile waste and encourage a more conscious approach to fashion.

At our events, we strive to build community, based on our values of reducing our environmental impact and celebrating fashion in a sustainable way. By swapping clothes we keep clothes in circulation, minimizing the need for increased production and reducing the amount of used garments polluting the planet.

Through this project and with our platform, we aim to inspire and empower people to slow down their consumption of fashion and repair or repurpose their clothes instead of discarding them. We believe that small actions can create significant change, and our event serves as a catalyst for building a more sustainable and inclusive future.
